shoe-aholics anonymous

There’s no denying it, most of us dolls can be labeled as shoe-aholics. It might be a harsh term to label a girl’s love for shoes, but some dolls are just plain obsessed with finding the perfect Cindarellla slipper. Whether it’s a pair of ballet pumps or killer nine inch heels, the thrill of slipping on a shoe that compliments even one of her outfits, is the equivalent of a rush of endorphins through the brain. The dream of someday inheriting Cary Bradshaw’s shoe collection that’s overflowing  with Laboutins and Jimmy Choo’s, is on every dolls’ wish-list. So the question is: why do dolls have such a love for shoes?
Personally for this doll, the right shoe can be like icing on a cake. Something as simple as a pair of shoes can actually categorize a doll as a fashionista or as a total fashion victim. It’s all about complimenting the outfit, or making a statement-all in the name fashion. A great pair of heels can elongate a doll’s legs to heaven and back-so they can definitely be considered a vertically challenged doll’s BFF. Tall dolls don’t have to stand back and envy their shorter counterparts anymore, as the right pair of flats like gladiators, brogues and ballet pumps are completely tres chic dahling!
By conducting a small scale survey on Facebook-so Mark Zuckerburg of me-asking dolls why they love shoes so much, completely opened pandora’s box! Some dolls poetically professed their undying infatuation with their feet coverings on such a grand scale that Shakespeare would turn over in his grave. Some totally denied the fact that shoes were merely there to act as protection against the elements for their tootsies, but can rather best be described as art pieces that belonged in the Louvre. Other dolls highlighted the fact that the perfect pair of shoes can say something about your personality: Peep-toe’s for “I’m innocent but there’s a naughty side”, killer heels for “I’m a sexy vamp and you know it” and gladdies for “I’m a glamazon”!
The inspiration behind this piece is: you guessed it, a magnificent pair of le chaussures. The first glimpse I caught of these beauties was in the November 2010 issue of ELLE Magazine (South Africa) and from there the love affair began. I was like a female lioness, trying to hunt down this pair of shoes at every possible opportunity-fully knowing that they will only emerge in-store well within the following month or two. But just imagine the ecstasy that I felt when I unsuspectingly walked into the store, one very ordinary Wednesday afternoon, and there they were calling my name. Needless to say, seeing that I was still a fashion student at the time and funds were very low, I just had to make a small lone from the parental bank (no interest of course)!
There are a couple of reasons why these shoes were not only going to make a statement, but also become a wardrobe staple and a classic addition to my collection-so listen up dolls:
·         First of all- they were a pair of heels! Every doll needs a pair of heels to make her feel like Gisele Bunchen when she’s out for a night on the town.
·         These nude/tan heels are always perfectly paired with any other colour outfit be it black, white, neons, brights or pastels!
·         The gladiator design is still very popular and fits in with the boho-chic trend.
·         Zippers in the back of the shoe make them easily accessible…so you wouldn’t feel like an ugly stepsister trying to force your feet into them.

This pair of shoes-guilty as charged!

For every shoe-loving doll out there the perfect pair of shoes is an extension of their femininity, cunningly displaying a very noticeable part of their bodies. For me it’s all about how these shoes make you feel and what they look like as part of your outfit. So dolls, if the shoe fits (literally) wear it…and
….on that note, I must confess:
“MY NAME IS TISH……AND I’M A SHOE-AHOLIC!”
